This week has been full on. Work is incredibly busy. At home, we just put in some new front lawn, we started renovating the kitchen, it is Halloween weekend and my family arrived from George. It was very bad planning with the family being here, but Norm is away soon and we have our friend Sam and her new hubby coming to visit just after that and our builder was available this week. Needs must.
Also, I planned the family visit and Norm planned the renovations and we never discuss anything important, just nonsense and day to functional conversations. And nonsense. I was telling him about the Big Baby Robin doing a kamikaze flight toward my head and only averting at the last minute. I told Norm that it is because I laughed when Big Baby first learned to fly and could not master clearing the fencing, so he is passive aggressive because he felt humiliated. Norm said to me ‘you have an entire alternative reality happening in your head’ and I could not understand how he did not know that I know what the birds are thinking.
The Resident Robins have been having multiple baths a day, well Lil Baby robin has. She looks at me, head cocked and if I say ‘fountain’ she knows what it is and pops down to have a wee swim about.
I threw a blueberry towards her when she was sitting on the lawn, she spotted it, hopped down and hopped towards it but Poppy jumped out and chased her. I was not impressed.
The Olive Thrush have been here a lot.

There was a new guy who got a fright and flew away, they are quite shy. It was a Bulbul and had a very dark head and a bright eye. I think it is the African Bulbul but it is a bit far for his usual range, but he was very dark!! It also says that it could be a young common bulbul which are sometimes much darker.

The grass was laid on Wednesday and Norm has been watering it daily in the hopes it takes root.
The tilers came around midday on Thursday. I did a video of the ‘Before’ tiles for prosperity. The tiles were glass and broke into deadly shards when removed.
The builders managed to get all of the tiles off in one afternoon. They usually go to mosque half day on Friday so we agreed they would only come back on Monday after the kids left. We had to do a makeshift kitchen for the weekend for the kids’ visit.
Lily, Josh, Amelia and Reuben arrived from George late on Thursday. Amelia was straight out to the fairy garden to play. This time little Roo was very cheerful with me and let me hold him with no complaints. We all had dinner and an early night.
On Friday Josh played golf and Norm, Lily and I had a lazy day at home. Well, as lazy as one can be when looking after two babies. The kids played in the playroom and Amelia played in the fairy garden. I discovered these 2 pieces of a fairy Norm gave me years ago. Apparently ‘Those Other People’ broke her wings off and hid her.

Amelia spent hours of happiness out there so it is a small price for the memories of her playing in the garden. She is so happy there. She also fessed up and told me she broke it. I told her I was glad she told the truth.
This fairy had been broken for ages and I think a dog broke her. Norm fixed her for me.
Caitlin, Wesley and Bree all came over after work on Friday and we ordered loads of sushi and Chinese food for everyone from Blue Lotus. It was really delicious. Bree loves sushi and the two girls were adorable chatting to each other. We all had such a laugh when Amelia asked Bree if she would like to wear the pink princess ring. Bree poltitely said ‘yes please’ and Amelia quipped ‘OK then eat all your food’ which was hilarious as Bree always eats well and Amelia seldom does! Amelia takes her job as the oldest very seriously, guiding Bree away from the cars and animals.
The girls played together and then all 3 babies had a bath and got ready for bed. Caitlin & Wes headed home with Bree and her cup of bedtime milky tea, with Bree all clean and in her onesie. Josh and Lily went to bed with the other 2 but Josh snuck out once Mills was asleep to watch a bit of telly with Norm and I.
On Saturday there was a big schedule in place and a lot of chaos in the attempts to execute said schedule. But at least it was a beautiful day!
After Roo’s morning nap Lily got them all ready as she was going to her friend’s baby shower and taking Reuben, but Caitlin and Bree were coming to collect Amelia to go on a hike with Wes at Alphen. The 2 girls were dressed the same in a gorgeous pink and red outfit with a pink hat when they set off and they looked adorable. They adventured then went back to their house to try unsuccessfully to get Bree to nap. Instead the girls jumped on the trampoline, had snacks, read books and had a playdate. It makes me so happy to see the cousins being besties and getting to know each other.
At 4pm Josh, Norm and I headed to Caitlin’s house as we were all off on a Halloween walk with the children. The neighbourhood have a sign up sheet and the residents divide up those want to dress up and go door to door and those who prefer to give the candy out. The participants buy the sweets so the ‘host houses’ do not have to pay out of pocket. There were over 70 kids and many adults and it created a whole vibe around the neighbourhood. It was so much fun!

Lily, Josh, Amelia and Roo went as the Addam’s Family and Bree went as Snow White with Caitlin as the Wicked Stepmother. I was just a generic princess. We do not post pics of the babies so you just get the mamas.

After the event Norm and I headed home so he could walk the dogs and feed them. I ordered pizza and pasta for us all while the others were driving to our house. We all had dinner and then the babies had a quick bath and went to bed. They were out like a light quickly and Josh again snuck out and watched a bit of telly with us. I think Lily said Roo woke a few times last night. His little brain had processed so much information I am not surprised! Norm carried him for part of the walk and he shouted out of excitement repeatedly.
We woke early this morning and the babies had breakfast and played for a bit, then Roo had his 10am nap with an aim for them to hit the road once he woke up. Shortly after he went down Norm received a text message from the house below us saying that someone had driven through our new succulent beds.
Kim will need to come and spend a day redoing it all. It makes me so angry that someone could just do such damage with no care at all.
Today I am going to do round two of Pyrol spray to try and get rid of the pests on my pickle plant as they are now spreading to other plants, whatever the hell the little beasties are. I did one round this week and it has not done the trick but the plant is very densely clustered so easy for the eggs and bugs to hide.

Then I will do a tidy up of the playroom and the fairy garden but that is about all my ambitions for the day. I am exhausted and feel like I ran a marathon. I am used to going up and down on my trampoline, not forward and backward.
Until next time, Kisses from the Kitten xoxoxoxoxo
