Geese and Bunnies

We have all noted how time seems to have no meaning when there is a baby in the house. Lily has to feed Amelia around the clock and sometimes it seems like we do not know what day it is. In fact, in our Wednesday morning stand up I said ‘Happy Friday!’ which got me some odd looks. However when I advised I was still baby drunk they understood.

Caitlin went back to Cape Town on Thursday as she needed to get back to work. She took a week’s leave to come down to help Lily too. Having a major op and a new baby to look after is a lot of stress and exhaustion. Lily only needed to worry about looking after Amelia and Caitlin and I looked after Lily and the house. Caitlin set up a system for sterilising the bottles and setting up supplementary feeds. So far Amelia is still not on formula and it seems Lily and she are settling into the routine.

I have been cooking when I can and ordering groceries to be delivered from Checkers360 as well as working full time. We are all coping quite well.

I often talk about the occurrences of things which are ‘lessons’ for me being presented in threes and it has happened so many times recently it is worth mentioning.

We had our monthly zoom meeting for the women in my Path of the White Wolf course. Our teacher Rev Tass Two Crows Flying burned some sage and mentioned that she had applied some rose scented oil and how lovely it smelled and that she wished we could smell it. Then one of the other women mentioned she had some rose incense burning and I mentioned that I was working next to a lovely vase of roses that one of Lily’s friend’s brought her and remarked how beautiful they smelled. Tass’ wish was delivered!

This session, our direction for discussion was ‘Above’ on the Medicine ‘Wheel’. The Wheel itself typically consists of four quadrants: East, South, West and North. Each of these directions is also linked to a color, an element, and various other symbolic representations. However in Native American cultures there is also Above, Below and the Center as it is based on the multi-dimensional Universe.

Above is represented as many ‘things’ or concepts to many different cultures, The Divine Masculine, Our Creator, Universal Consciousness. The colour of this direction is Amethyst. The night before I had said to my SIL that the sky was the most beautiful colour of amethyst. The 3rd instance was that I had spotted the rare Amethyst Sunbird which I had never seen or even heard of before (as mentioned last week.)

This teaching Tass also spoke to us about the ‘Power of Aum’. I had mentioned last week that I had used ‘Om’ to soothe Amelia after learning about it in the workshop at the Sufi temple. I have no idea how to spell the noise it but I know it works! The mention and information from Tass just reinforced it all. Then when she sent the following Spotify link I had a laugh as the track was added on my birthday, September 3rd.

I get the message that my meditation is important to my mental health. But mental health waits for no grandbaby! Neither does sleep but I am sleeping a solid 6 hours or so thanks to my nightly antihistamine and that is what allows me to function. I am not at all domesticated as everyone knows so this is all a bit of a learning curve to me. Add to the fact that I struggle to see sometimes, depending on how my PVD is affecting my eyes that day, or how much direct light they have been exposed to. Working appliances can be a real challenge.

Anyway, you may say, so what, those reoccurrences are only words or they are just coincidences. To me this is how Spirit acknowledges my studies and confirms my path.

UPDATE: this image came up for me and I had to include it in the post.

In my shaman class I mentioned the bunny arriving and one of the women in the group has done a lot of study of the symbolism of rabbits and she gave me some info which I found really interesting. The bunny is seen as a Jokester in many cultures and I have been told I am a Heyoka and I see the same characteristics with Lily and now with Amelia. A Heyoka often has a difficult birth and all 3 generations had a difficult birth, Lily and I both use humour to deflect and communicate. I thought this was interesting.

Our special little bunny rabbit has stayed here in our garden. I mentioned last week that he showed up when Amelia came home from the hospital. Because she was breech, Amelia went to the chiropractor to help with stiffness in her neck and to adjust her hips. It definitely seemed to help her with feeding as it seemed to be uncomfortable to turn her neck in one direction. Anyway, when Caitlin and Lily got back with Amelia the little rabbit was sitting on the driveaway as if it was waiting on her to come home! He does not seem fazed by our presence and hops around our seats when we are in the garden.

Then yesterday he ran as fast as he could from one side of the garden to the other three times in rapid succession, almost as if he was timing himself.

Today in the middle of me writing about Mr Bunny Josh calls me outside to tell me he had arrived. However it was a different bunny altogether!

There are now two, the original grey one and a slightly smaller brown and red one that follows the grey one everywhere. It appears to me that the grey one is trying to escape the brown one. We hypothesized that it could be a jilted lover situation where Mr Brown is trying to win back Miss Grey, or vice versa. Or Little Brown could be Big Grey’s baby? I laughed at us assigning human personalities to the bunnies.

The funny thing is that I was saying to Lily that I had not seen the Grey bunny today when we went outside to sit with Amelia and as I said that grey bunny hopped through a hole in the fence.

I spent a while outside today holding Amelia so that she could get some sun and so that Lily had some time to do things. It was freezing cold but we were wrapped up in blankets. She slept for ages and then a hadada flew over and screamed and she startled and would not settle again, she kept chewing her hand so I assumed she was hungry.

Speaking of the Hadeda and his noises. First of all here is a link to his sound so you can appreciate why she was startled. Second of all, you know how I have been going on for weeks about my spirit animal being the Sacred Ibis and it had honked at me even though all bird people (ornithologists for you geeks) say they make no noise?

Well.

Much like me finding out I was not looking at Venus, I was not looking at Sacred Ibis.

My son and I were in the garden when a couple just happened to fly over our heads the other day and I mentioned they were my spirit animal and my son advised me they were not ibis at all. So it would appear that Egyptian Geese are also my spirit animals. Here are some notes on Geese as a spirit animal.

‘Those born with a Goose Totem may desire large families. It’s natural for them to nurture. When many children aren’t practical, they may get pets or gather in a few deserving people that they treat with all the love and devotion of their own kin. Both the pets and people become on-going “projects” that give Goose great joy.’

“Another trait among Goose people is the thirst for greater understanding. You know there is more to the world than what your five senses experience. As you mature, your ability to see connections between the past and present grow geometrically. It’s common for Goose to go on a personal quest at least once in their life seeking out Destiny. That quest may be across the globe or across the yard, but something wonderful always awaits there.”

Meanwhile Ragnar is feeling very left out of things. He is obsessed with babies but he is a bit smelly and drooly so he is not allowed to froth all over Amelia. He got so upset when the girls all went out on Wednesday and he was left at home with me. I thought he was choking when I heard all of this drama and came running to find him flouncing in a huff because he was left at home.

This week little Amelia had another test of her jaundice and it had improved so that made us very happy. She is waking up more now so we are getting much more of her personality. She is just so beautiful.

Norm arrives on Monday and I have only 5 days left with my girls. I am so grateful to Josh’s mom Jackie who let me use her room so that I could stay here so long. Jackie arrives in August so she will be able to help Lily run the house as it is a lot for a new mom to cope with. It takes a village! I am so thankful that we could both be here to help Lily be able to focus purely on Amelia. So many mothers have no support, or they have to get back to work almost immediately. We are just so blessed.

Tonight I am cooking some steaks with a creamy mushroom sauce and a potato bake with a salad. I am also making Josh strawberry shortcake. I am not a bad mom in law am I?

I think we are all pretty lucky to have each other!

Until next time, Kisses from the Kitten xoxoxoxox
