Twist of Fate

On Monday I had a session with my Neurodiversity Therapist. We talked a lot about how our ‘quirks’ are interpreted as other things and often not identified as symptoms of neuro-diversity. Afterwards I was thinking about how one of my primary stims is twirling my hair. My hair is very thin in one patch from twirling it even though I try very hard to suppress it, but usually it is unconscious unless someone calls me out on it. But I was thinking about how the diagnosis criteria and society in general is so male focused that my primary stim is deemed to be a flirtation!

Meanwhile I do not even notice I am doing it until someone points it out. Usually by inferring I am being flirtatious. Trust me, I am never flirtatious. Sarcastic? Definitely.

This week I had another manifestation come through as we had the other half of our windows replaced with aluminium frames. The builders only left at 8pm on Valentine’s Day. We had planned for Norm to cook me dinner and to dine together outside under the stars. Obviously that could not happen as the house was chaos. So in exchange for windows I gave up my Valentine’s Day promise of a husband cooked meal. Instead we just had Mr Delivery bring us some food from Yesca’s Tea House. I went into the house from outside to get some more chowmein noodles only to find Blue with his head fully planted in the container munching away. So much for left-overs! I think Blue assumed he deserved a Valentine’s treat too.

Norm did pop down to the local shop and get me some lovely flowers.

He also gave me a little heart shaped tin of Lindor chocolates.

I had bought him chocolates and some new cargo shorts and some comfy sweat pants ones to wear at home, but I gave them to him early as he needed them. After 27-ish years together we do not usually make a fuss.

For our next house project, we want to renovate the downstairs bathroom, paint all of the downstairs walls & ceiling and fix the leaking upstairs balcony. We had someone come on Friday to give us a quote and we have another guy who will quote before we decide.

The project after that is fixing the subsidence issues in the dining room and then screeding the downstairs floors. We have chunked everything that we want to do up in a logical fashion.

By the way, if anyone has screed floors and would like to let me know what you think about them I would love to hear. It said a con is the potential for old people or children to get injured if they fall. Eff U, how rude! ha!

This week I ordered a new piece for my dining room from Sotran. It is a dark grey. It will replace my existing sideboard which is no longer my style, as it is too large and heavy. I am really excited for the new one to arrive. I think I am putting my large oil painting of a naked lady in the bath above it.

My friend came over last Saturday afternoon while the power was off and we just sat in the garden and chatted. We had no power for about 10 hours that Saturday I think? I lost track as it seemed more off than on. Then on Sunday I chucked Norm out of bed to make us a coffee after the warning of an 8am shut down which did not happen!

Sunday was a scorcher of a day. It was over 30℃ (approx 86 ℉ for you Yanks). There was a tiny bit of a cool breeze but not much. The day before was hot but it was very breezy so it was easily tolerated.

On Sunday I was out in the pool early as it was just unbearable.

But the weather shifted and we have been blessed with gentle rain most days this week. On Thursday we thought our lovely rains might be over and the dog groomer came to give Finn and Panda a wash. Then later in the afternoon Panda was out mooching around the garden and the heavens opened and he got soaking wet. Norm had taken Finn out and they were out on the streets with no cover available and both got drenched. Back to smelly dogs.

After Norm got home he cooked halloumi and fillet steak for us and I made a delicious salad. Sorry my photo is so dark but I was in the lounge eating on my dinner tray by the telly.

I was thinking about those ‘Having It All’ comments I mentioned in my last blog. Really the only goal is to be happy. That is it. Just be happy. If you can wake each day and choose to be happy then you have ‘it ALL’!

Today I am off to a Manifestation Workshop at my friend Tamlyn’s. Then tomorrow I am going to drumming rehearsals and then the drummers are having a little shared plate gathering afterwards.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and week ahead. Until next time, Kisses from the Kitten xoxoxoxox
