I have loved having Lily and Amelia here all week, Amelia changes so much every time I see her. She can now say several words and is so funny. She really loves to be a comedian and if she gets a laugh she will repeat it forever so make sure not to laugh if you do not want to revisit that scene, I learned that the hard way.

I ordered groceries and either Lily or I have cooked every night but I often forgot to take a pic. I cooked chicken breasts, baked potatoes, red cabbage and corn on the cob on Monday night.

I put a pot roast and carrots in the slow cooker on Monday and we had it with mash on Tuesday. We had the left over red cabbage from the previous evening. I love carrots cooked in the meat broth. I made a gravy from the liquids of the roast and it was so delicious.

I had bought a whole beef fillet as it was on special and Norm cooks a lovely steak. The first night I made big baked potatoes with sour cream, a huge salad with avocado, cucumber, carrots, beetroot curls, seeds, onion sprinkles. Lily made steamed carrots and brussel sprouts so Mills got some veggies as lettuce is not really baby suitable.

The next night Norm again cooked the steaks, we just had oven chips and a ‘leftovers salad’ consisting of lettuce, carrots, apples, olives, corn, mozzarella, cucumbers and avocado.

Norm went to walk Finn and while he was out Blue was on my desk and swung his broken leg cast around and knocked off a bottle of Heinz tomato sauce. If you are South African you know how expensive it is and if you have ever broken a glass bottle of anything you know what a mess it makes. It was everywhere and the slivers of glass flew all over the house. I shooed him outside as he then tried to eat said tomato sauce out of the glass filled puddle. BLUEEEEEE.

Later that evening Norm went to the shops and bought me some lovely flowers to brighten my day (and a new bottle of Heinz). I saw them when I was outside in the lamplight and thought there was a very exotic bright bloom in the centre. I put them in water and the next morning when I took a photo I realised the exotic bloom was just a chrysanthemum in a hairnet.

Lily and Amelia had an outing on Friday to Clay Cafe. The pups were happy to see Mills when she got home and vice versa, those dogs adore her. Norm checked the pool to see if it was swimmable but it was green.

It was so hot that Lily filled the baby pool for Amelia to jump about in. We all put our feet in and enjoyed it. It was insanely hot and I actually felt faint at one point.

It was insanely hot again today. Norm and I have been babysitting Bree as Caitlin and Wes went to a wedding in Paarl. They had a night nurse come to relieve us at 6pm. They drove there in their car and have a driver to bring them back in their own car so they can let their hair down and relax.

Last week in my post I was panicked we would be able to get out of the road but at 11.30 am they opened the roads and traffic was bumper to bumper climbing up the mountain. We had to take Poppy as she cannot be left home on her own. Midway there she was sick. Luckily this time I brought a towel just in case so my dress was only slightly damaged from it.

After Amelia’s morning nap Lily and Amelia came to join us at Caitlin’s. The girls are so sweet together, Amelia is obsessed with little Bree. Lily brought dinner for her and Mills as Norm and I had a late lunch we were not hungry.

I managed to get Bree down for a nap within 30 minutes and I gave her bottles and her solids for lunch. She is just the sweetest little smiley thing. She can sit on her own for ages now and while putting her to sleep she kept getting up on her hands and knees and rocking and then launching herself across the crib so I think crawling is right behind the sitting. She is a very busy little thing. She was obsessed with Poppy and it was hard to feed her if Pops was visible. Poppy was so good with the girls, probably because she was still nauseous, I doubt it was her golden character shining through. She was car sick again on the way home, this time just as we pulled into the driveway.

Norm went to fetch the night nurse from her taxi stop at 6pm and she told him that she took 3 different taxis to get there. It is quite unimaginable to those of us who are privileged. I take for granted being able to work from home and have a nice car to go where I want, but I do express my gratitude in my prayers.

Amelia does my morning prayers on the hill each morning, she knows what to do and joins in with me and she is just so sweet. We have such fun in the back garden too. She has her kitchen and her pram. We play loads of silly made up games and sing songs. She is currently obsessed with the ‘Wheels on the Bus’.

Today was a good kind of chaos surrounded by my gorgeous grandkids and daughter and husband. I feel very lucky.

In the midst of the chaos of family life, I managed to stream the latest season of The White Lotus. At this point I still have a few episodes which I have not watched as they are not available here yet, so no spoilers please!

I adore Sam Rockwell who is in it, he looks like such a naughty boy and I love that his long time partner Leslie Bibb is also in the series. Every woman loves sweaty, rumpled, receding hair-lined Walton Goggins because he looks like he would fill you full of tequila and weed and ravage you in a Motel 6 in Florida for 3 days. Or maybe that is just me mixing up my high school escapades with my fantasies.

Anyway.

Watch the entire 3 seasons if you have not seen it yet. It is hilarious and twisted.

Apologies for posting late to those who usually read me early with their cuppa (you know who you are). It’s been a busy week.

Work is going well, I have promise of my data and the process I need to finish for delivery. I hope it cools off a bit next week or we better get our pool operational or I may be running naked through the sprinklers and no one wants to see that!

Until next time, Kisses from the Kitten xoxoxox
