I love Jell-O. Or jelly, depending on where you are from. Here in South Africa and the UK it is jelly and when I finally went to the doc on Thursday and he said I must go onto clear liquids for a few days, the idea of jelly at least made me less depressed. Especially over Valentine’s Day when I should be scarfing chocolates.
Instead Norm picked up some lovely flowers, packets of jelly and cup-a-soup. Not so romantic, but it was just what I needed.
I’ve existed on cup-a-soup, jelly and a million prescription tablets and my gastric system has finally settled. It still hurts, but at least that is less inconvenient than what was happening. 💩
My work was surprised I was working and not signed off by my doctor but I have a lot of work planned and it would freak me out to miss it. I can cope with an achy tummy, I am a big girl (who still says ‘achy tummy’).
Last weekend we mostly chilled out as we were still not feeling 100%. Poppy and I were in the back garden and the next thing I knew she had gone through this black security fence, through the next fence and into the front garden! From the front garden there are a lot of rock walls to fall off of, a pool to fall into (it has a cover, but still) and she can escape onto the main road if she gets through the pedestrian gate so that can not be happening whenever she fancies.
To nip that in the bud Norm put up more of the mesh to stop Miss Poppy from escaping, even though he was not really in the mood. She was really cross about us stopping her going where she wants. She is headstrong and stubborn but also very clever. We say to her ‘go have a drink of water’ and she trots off to the shared water bowl and has a drink. I take her to the front garden and say ‘have a teetee’ and she does so. Unless there is a bone, a chew or a hoof in sight to distract her before she makes it to do the wee. She often knows what we say but just blatantly ignores us.
On Tuesday Norm noticed that she had sat on her poop and it was enmeshed in her hair. We tried to clean her with a warm bath but even soaking it was ineffective so eventually we had to cut it out. It was gross. These are the lovely things pom owners are acquainted with. After we finished we dried her off and put her on the ground and she went insane with anger.
She is so determined. She has discovered that she can go down another area in the garden and she struggled to get back up. So every day she has gone down that route until not only could she get back up, but she can do so while carrying a bone as big as her wee head.
Her and Finn play fight all day long. He is so patient and she is so vicious.
But then she can be calm and so sweet. She sleeps on my feet or on Finn.
She is obsessed with flip flops. She steals them and carries them off to a pile by my desk. Her teeth are not big enough to harm them, but that shoe she is chewing in the picture is Norm’s and that is a piece of butternut on it. How does that happen Poppy??
The only thing that seems to frighten her is noise. We were outside when a helicopter flew over our house very low and it made a helluva noise. Poppy came hurtling to find me to protect her. If it landed though she would probably try to fight it.
Miss Poppy had her 2 week post op check on Friday and received her vaccinations. They also weighed her and she has gained from 0.7kg to 1.3kg in 2 weeks! Probably all of that poached chicken. The vet staff are all in love with her, but she is pretty damned cute. The vet cleaned her wound and removed the tattered bandage. It is healing nicely and he is happy with it. Now we must clean it every day and put Bactroban ointment on it and the pin may be able to come out in 1-2 weeks.
Blue seemed very lethargic last Saturday when I got back from my facial. I was sitting on the couch outside and he could not even muster the strength to jump from the table.
The next day he moved easier and by Thursday he seemed fine. I think he must have been in a fight. He is too old to be a bad ass. There is a huge cat that comes here occasionally so maybe he was involved. Blue barely tolerates Poppy. She follows him all over, yips at him and pulls his tail but he just blatantly ignores her nonsense.
We decided to try and eat proper food last Saturday evening and ordered Beef Stew and Mash from the pub. It looked okay but it had rosemary in it which I kept finding sticks of in my mouth. To me that is the same as finding a fish bone in my mouth. I hate that it ruined my first proper meal. I could not finish the food. It is an autistic thing! I ate what I could but that is the reason that I always order chicken strips from everywhere. The irony is that the pub have started adding some very strong spice to the crumbs on the chicken and it really puts me off. Amelia was not fond of it either. If only there was an ‘Autistic version’ of food items. Or an adult sized kids menu.
Unfortunately everything I ate came directly straight back out but at least I was not hurling. I hate hurling. I tried eating each day but nothing would stick. Until the doc told me to just stop eating and let my digestion rest, I was not getting well. I would improve, feel better, eat, get sick again, in a loop. The fasting is sorting me out it seems.
I shall still spend the weekend just relaxing. I was sitting outside in the back with Poppy to avoid the wind which is howling. The sun is warm but not too hot and it is a perfect day if you are in the shade and protected from the wind. I love my little patio. Both cats were snoozing in the shade.
The girls group were meeting up on Sunday but it has moved to next weekend. I was not going to attend due to being contagious so from a selfish POV I am glad it moved.
My son has booked to come for a visit at the end of the month to see little Bree. He has not seen her in ages and he wants to come while Caitlin is still off of work. I look forward to seeing him.
I hope you all have a lovely week ahead. Until next time, Kisses from the Kitten xoxoxoxo
