Today we have woken up to a gorgeous day! Everything outside is sodden but the sun is shining bright and the birds are all singing happily.
The previous week has been a bit hit or miss with the weather with the only consistency being that it was icy cold. The rain came and went with no assurances of clear skies.
We had a day of sunshine briefly on Monday so I put my cushions outside and sat there for my coffee and my lunch. I was so happy.
I managed to get out to put two of my turtles in the front garden by the pool so I can see them every day.
I put the other two turtles in the fairy garden.
I also put the fat little terracotta bunny into the fairy gardens at the back.
The items I ordered to go in the play room we are setting up for the grandbabies arrived. There is a tin tea set in a case, and 2 sets of the same pots and pans Amelia already has plus a set with some bigger pots and plastic food to play with.
The other thing I ordered is an adorable little table with 2 chairs that have sweet little bunny ears as chair backs. The girls will be able to sit here and have their tea parties, or paint or colour or whatever they want to do.

All week the weather was undecided, even if it was not raining it felt so damp and the cold went directly to your bones. It starting pouring again on Thursday and we noticed more leaking via our new aluminium windows. They cost the earth so I am not happy about that. There are quite a few that are leaking as well as the upstairs doors.
It was so cold we built a fire every evening. The animals would cuddle as close to me as they could. I am under that furry blanket.
Meanwhile, the rain went on and on.
And on and on.
The weather was horrendous yesterday when Norm dropped me by Tam for an afternoon coffee and a catch up. We were waiting outside for him to arrive and it took forever as he had to literally drive through multiple flooded areas! Poor Tam was starving by the time she finally got rid of me.
The week flew by, probably because I had several adventures. My friend Tamlyn has started a weekly social group on Tuesday evenings for people who may be new to the area or who are just looking to meet new people. There was space for 15 people and there were 14 people there so what she manifested happened perfectly. We had tea, coffee and the best cookies ever. Seriously, these cookies rival any American brand of fresh baked cookies. Anyway I digress from our objective. There were 2 couples there (4 blokes in total), several of us women who knew each other from other groups, and a few other people whom I did not know.
We went around the room and introduced ourselves, an activity which always sends me into an Autistic Spin because what is deemed important in life by ‘normals’? I went full on ramble for what felt like 15 minutes. I told them the most random things and I mentioned my ADHD and it’s role in my history of poor decision making. I did the usual trauma dump ranging from ‘I wanted to be an air hostess but my school counselor talked me into studying radiography which I hated‘ to ‘I knew my first husband for 2 weeks when I moved across the entire country and we ran off to Vegas and got married by an Elvis impersonator‘. I did tell them important things like I am a self taught Data Architect (but also threw in that I had done a million different temp jobs in the UK because I had so many tantrums at the Radiography qualifications office that they would not let me even ring them so I had to find a new career).
I then told the man who said he had worked in energy that I also worked in energy in the UK with British Gas and Transco designing their data flows, which is how I ‘fell in’ to the data role that I love now. I told them I had 3 grown kids, a wonderful husband and 1.5 grandkids. Except I hurled it at them like bullets of facts raining down in rapid succession. Hopefully I will loosen up as time goes on and I get more relaxed. Normally I would have a few vodkas to socialise me but it is a coffee, tea and cookie vibe, not a boozy one. Which is good because booze, nerves and ADHD can make for a wild ride.
Then Wednesday was Norm’s birthday. I had remembered it up until that morning, but I was so tired from the night before that I was sitting at my desk in a stupor when he came downstairs singing happy birthday to himself. As usual, he did not want any fuss, he did not even want to go out to dinner as the weather was miserable. Instead I built him a big fire in the lounge while he was out walking Finn, then he got the Chicken Milanese from Massimo’s for our dinner. He got to choose our take away and he got to choose what we watched on telly that night and he was happy. He is a man of very little maintenance, sort of like an old Mercedes, strong of mind and body. He said he was happy with his animals, his wife and his cosy home.
Caveat: I have never owned a Mercedes of any age and have no data on whether they are low on maintenance, nor can I be arsed to google, I am just throwing in one of my typical dreadful similes. Or metaphors? Or both? Or spicing it up as my daughter Caitlin says.
Speaking of which…..Look at what I have in store later today!

Wes and Caitlin invited us to go for lunch at Scala as it is Norm’s birthday week and we are always treating them. We are excited because the last time we were supposed to go I was sick and Norm was away so Cait and Wes took our booking.
I am all ready to go and waiting on my darling husband while I finish up my post.
I hope you all have had a lovely week and that the same energy continues for your weekend ahead. Until Next time, Kisses from the Kitten xoxoxoxoxoxo
