Toothless Squared

I cannot believe it is March already. I’m still getting used to writing ‘2019’ and we are almost a quarter into it. I’ve now been on my current project for a month and have made good progress. I had to submit my first progress report this week and the client is happy that I am on track. I would love it if they found the funds to keep me longer than three months but we will see.

We had a bit of drizzly rain this week which is wonderful. The universe and my ancestors were looking after our country as well as me as the rain all occurred when I wasn’t walking across town. It rained overnight and in the morning then stopped for my cross town foot journey. I was very thankful.

This week was the Cohen hearings and we sat mesmerized by the whole debacle. It went on for 6 hours in total so we did not see all of it but we watched a few hours that evening.

The Republicans clearly demonstrated that they don’t care about exposing the truth, they want to ensure no one exposes their furher’s illegal dirty little secrets. It was such a difference to how they dealt with Sessions and his ‘I do not recall’ bullshit.

The best of the interrogations was by the white male Republicans’ worst nightmare, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

You can see why they are terrified of her. She is young, intelligent, a woman, beautiful and not willing to stand for their bullshit. Rock on AOC! I am excited to see what she does in her role.

This week Lily found a little abandoned feral kitten outside her office and took him in. He is now living his best life.

She has named him Toothless after the character in “How To Train Your Dragon“. Can you see why?

He is so sweet. The vet estimates he is only about 4 to 5 weeks old. His mother is nowhere to be found so Lily is going to keep him.

Norm had a bit of a traumatic week as he had two teeth extracted on Wednesday. He will have an implant done soon but meanwhile he’s lisping and having to eat soft food while it heals so we have had a lot of pasta this week and I can see it in my bloated belly!

On Friday night we had Thai food from Thai Cafe and we both ordered Chicken with Black Bean noodles but forgot to tell them to make it mild and both of us nearly died from chili overload. Oops. My chicken was really tough so I avoided eating it, Norm seemed to cope by chewing on his other side.

The next morning Norm got up with the dogs and let me sleep in and I slept until 9.30 which is unheard of for me! We had gone to bed late the previous night but still it was a lovely treat.

Once we were up on Saturday we went off to Scarborough to meet my friend Tass for lunch. It was a bit cloudy and overcast but a beautiful drive nonetheless.

We went to Whole Earth Cafe. Neither Norm nor I had been but as Tass lives just up the road she is a regular. We were seated outside on the deck with a little peek of the sea in the distance.

Norm was still trying to eat soft food and ordered the sweet potato gnocchi and he said he enjoyed it.

Tass had the hake and chips.

I had the fillet steak medallions which was on special and it was divine!

It came with chips, salad and home made horseradish sauce. The steak was cooked exactly as requested, pink but not bloody. I give it 5 Kitten Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The cafe had a lovely vibe and good service, this is definitely one we will return to. We sat chatting for ages until it started sprinkling rain. We were seated under a big tree full of singing birds so the tree protected us from most of the rain but eventually we got quite damp so we paid the bill and headed back to Hout Bay.

We had a quiet evening that night and watched the film Isn’t It Romantic with Rebel Wilson.

I love Rebel Wilson and enjoyed the nonsense and farce of the film. It was fun. I give it 4 Kitten Stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We also had a lazy morning on Sunday. We decided to head into Hout Bay to get lunch late in the afternoon. We went to the new Famous Bean Cafe only to find they were already closed so we went to the Woodcutters Arms pub instead. The beer garden was chockablock but we managed to get a nice roomy booth inside.

Norm ordered the chicken pie that was on special but he asked for sweet potato crisps instead of fries.

I had two starters: the popcorn chicken strips and jalapeño cheese cigars.

I enjoyed it and Norm also enjoyed his. The food at this pub is always consistent. I give my lunch 4 Kitten Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

After lunch we had a stroll around the village, walked through the little garden centre there which we were sad to see is going out of business. There is another shop next to it in the old poste house which is also going out of business. The &Banana shop has also closed down so that leaves a whole row of businesses closing. Hout Bay can be a tough market to crack.

We finished up at Ice Dream and I had an ice cream to munch on while we walked back to our car.

We have had a relaxed day which is perfect conditions for a Sunday. This weekend went by far too quickly and I’m back at work tomorrow.

I hope you all have enjoyed your weekend and that you have a great week ahead.

Until then, Kisses from the Kitten xoxoxoxox
